The Orange Community Nursery School (OCNS), founded in 1956, is a partially cooperative non-profit corporation, administered by a Director and teachers. OCNS provided a high-quality, developmentally appropriate program for young children.
The success of OCNS depends on its families honoring their responsibilities to the program. Each family must give careful consideration to their choice of a cooperative program. These responsibilities include:
1. Being "Parent of the Day" (date to be determined throughout the school year). This is a parent's time to join the teachers during their child's class. 2. Participation in fundraising events and at least one Set-up or Clean-up during the year. 3. Remain with the child at the daily sessions as long as teacher deems necessary if there is a separation issue. 4. Meet all financial obligations when due.
In addition to the above mentioned requirements, there are optional activities for parents who wish to be more involved: Maintenance of equipment and playground Work on or chair a committee Be a room parent Share a special talent such as playing an instrument
All students are required to have new, updated medical forms filed each year. Each parent that will be participating in the classroom will also be required to have a signed statement of health form from their physician and a TB test.
