The Orange Community Nursery School (OCNS), founded in 1956, is a partially cooperative non-profit corporation, administered by a Director and teachers. OCNS provides a high-quality, developmentally appropriate program for young children.
The success of OCNS depends on its families honoring their responsibilities to the program. Each family must give careful consideration when choosing a partially cooperative program. Responsibilities include:
1. Being "Parent of the Day" (date to be determined throughout the school year). This is a parent's time to join the teachers during their child's class (3's & 4's classes only). 2. Committee involvement - serve or chair a minimum of one committee for the year. 3. Housekeeping - help with at least one Set-up or Clean-up during the year. 4. Remain with the child at the daily sessions as long as teacher deems necessary if there is a separation issue. 5. Participation in fundraising events. 6. Meet all financial obligations when due.
In addition to the above mentioned requirements, there are optional activities for parents who wish to be more involved: Be a room parent Share a special talent such as playing an instrument
All students are required to have new, updated medical forms filed each year. Each parent that will be participating in the classroom will also be required to have a signed statement of health form from their physician and a TB test.
